The Waveney Valley Ecumenical Partnership (WVEP) is a fellowship of six Christian churches located along the River Waveney, between Harleston and Bungay. The winding blue line at the bottom of these pages represents the river itself, flowing through meadows as it meanders between the two towns.
Four of the churches are in Norfolk and two in Suffolk. As you travel between them, you cross the county border—the river—several times. To make things simpler, here are a few abbreviations you’ll see used throughout:

The WVEP churches

- London Road Church (Harleston) – Methodist / URC LEP
In addition to their work together within WVEP, these churches also collaborate with other local congregations in a variety of ways: through Churches Together groups (in Bungay and Harleston), formal covenants (Pulham Market), and informal cooperation (Fressingfield and Wortwell).
The sponsoring body for WVEP is Norfolk and Waveney Churches Together, which itself is part of CTE. According to the Constitution, one of WVEP’s key shared responsibilities is the appointment and support of its minister.
WVEP is also connected with:
- The East Anglia District of the Methodist Church
- The Eastern Synod of the URC
Our link with the Church of England is through Denton, though this connection is less formal than our ties with the Methodist Church and the URC.
